Transparency First: How Offboarding Works
When subscribing to any business service—whether company vehicle leasing, merchant card machines, or website management—every responsible business owner wants to know the exit strategy: "What happens if my business circumstances change? What happens when I want to cancel?"
At Pay Monthly Webs, we believe in total transparency. Below, we explain exactly what happens when you cancel a pay monthly website packages, how the contract agreement works, and how your domain name and brand assets are handled.
1. The 12-Month Initial Term (Why It Exists)
Our pay monthly website plans operate on a standard initial 12-month agreement, which then automatically transitions into a flexible rolling monthly agreement.
Why does an initial 12-month term exist? Because we charge £0 upfront setup fees. Our UK designers and developers spend 20 to 40 hours custom coding, styling, writing, testing, and launching your bespoke website. We absorb 100% of those upfront build and design costs on day one. The 12-month agreement simply allows us to recoup the initial engineering investment while providing you with an enterprise-grade website from just £29/month.
If you cancel during the initial 12-month term, the remaining balance for the term is due per our Terms of Service.
2. After 12 Months: Flexible Rolling Monthly Service
Once your initial 12 months are complete, you are never locked into another year-long contract. Your subscription seamlessly converts into a rolling monthly agreement. If you ever decide you no longer need the site, you simply provide standard 30 days' written notice to cancel with zero exit fees.
3. What Happens to the Website When You Cancel?
Because our service is a Website-as-a-Service (WaaS) rental model, when your subscription ends:
- The Website Is Taken Offline: The license to display and use the website ends, and the website is permanently deactivated.
- The Code Is Non-Transferable: You cannot export the website, download the files, or migrate the codebase to another hosting provider. The design, code, and server architecture remain the exclusive intellectual property of Pay Monthly Webs.
4. What Happens to Your Domain Name?
Your web address is your company identity, and you never lose it:
- If you brought your own domain: You retain complete ownership. You can point your DNS records to your new provider whenever you are ready.
- If we registered a domain for you: Once your initial 12-month agreement is completed, we will happily facilitate transferring the domain name to your own registrar (such as GoDaddy, 123 Reg, or Namecheap) so you keep your brand address. We never charge hostage release fees.
5. What Happens to Your Business Email?
If you have business email accounts (such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365) connected to your domain, your email accounts continue functioning uninterrupted. When you move your domain, you simply maintain your MX records with your new registrar.
6. What Remains Yours?
You always retain 100% ownership of your business name, company branding, logos, and any raw photos or written content you provided to us. If you choose to have another website built elsewhere in the future, you have full freedom to reuse all of your original branding assets.
Beware of 24-Month Lease Traps
When researching competitors in the UK pay monthly website market, be extremely careful of companies that use unregulated third-party finance agreements. These companies sell "website leases" that lock you into 24 to 36 months of non-cancellable direct debits through finance institutions. If your business closes, you are still legally pursued for thousands of pounds in finance debt.
At Pay Monthly Webs, we do not use third-party finance companies. We handle our own subscriptions directly via Stripe with simple, honest UK terms and rolling flexibility after month 12.
